Vi er i USA i 70'erne. Her var der to basketball ligaer: NBA og ABA. Mens NBA står for de sportslige præsentationer, står ABA for det modsatte. Til gengæld går de meget op i at underholde deres publikum! Men da NBA beslutter sig for kun at få et par enkelte hold af ABA over i NBA, bliver der kamp til stregen. Især for Jackie Moons hold. Will Ferrell stars in this sports comedy as the owner of a basketball team who has to turn around his team's fortunes for the club to survive. When former NBA player Jackie Moon (Ferrell) strikes it rich with his hit song 'Love Me Sexy', he uses the profits to fulfill his ambition and buy struggling American Basketball Association team the Flint Michigan Tropics. But with the rival leagues about to merge, only four teams from the ABA will be allowed to join the superior NBA division. With the Tropics currently the worst team in the league, Moon has to win his remaining games, by fair means or foul, and turn his band of no-hopers into a well-oiled, slam-dunkin' machine, if they are to survive. |
